Lucky man that I am, this CD was placed in my hand by the artist herself.
I was already aware of Lizzie Bing through her work with the most excellent Jamie Williams and The Roots Collective. This 4 track CD contains some fine blue eyed country flavoured soul with Lizzie’s exquisite vocals taking centre stage.
Lizzie’s
vocal reminds me of the softness of early Bonnie Raitt combined with
the soul of Dusty, conveniently for me, 2 of my all time favourite
female vocalists.
The musical arrangements are perfectly
understated and unobtrusive, just acoustic guitar, bass and strings,
allowing Lizzie to tell us her stories freely…
Living On The Edge Of My Dreams
The
title track deals with the age old dilemma that haunts so many of us,
whether to walk the safe ground or to throw caution to the wind and
carve your own path.
Plasticine Man
A brilliantly
crafted, almost poppy, love story told from the perspective of someone
with the strength and confidence to know who they are and more
importantly, what they want…
Honest Never Met You
Quite
simply, a love song straight out of the top drawer and 3rd song in it’s
quite clear that here beats the heart of a poet and a storyteller as she
takes on a journey through her soul.
Beautiful
Seldom
will one word sum up not only one song but the whole CD as the title of
this portrait of day turning to night and night turning to day. If you
close your eyes you will feel the sunrise.
The whole CD is a
must. And for just £5 inc p&p from her website it’s an absolute
steal. Better still visit her facebook page and check out her live
shows, you won’t be disappointed.
"Lizzie
B was the first act in the acoustic lounge which perfectly suited her style of
music. A warm, intimate atmosphere playing host to her melodies, beautiful
voice and captivating charm. Songs of love and life to which each member of the
audience could relate and seemed captivated by her enchanting, Karen
Carpenter/Jewel-esque voice and style of music. A set of original, Lizzie
B-penned songs. A truly gifted musician, Lizzie B effortlessly pulled off a
magical performance even though in the studio she has the backing of an extra
guitar, cello and violin, providing the back drop to the music on her
CDs."

"People warm to her immediately.
She has a smile that lights up the darkest of rooms. Lizzie has a rich low
register but she sure can hit those high notes too. She's a lotta country, a
little blues and a little bit folk. Her songs are heart-warming and meaningful.
Beautiful melodies..... I suggest you go check her out and Chill out and
relax with Lizzie B"
